Volunteer Opportunities

We have a role to match your skills and interests!

General Fixer
Love solving puzzles? Tackle repairs on small appliances, lamps, toys, basic electronics, and oddball items. We’ll match you to repairs you’re comfortable with, and there’s always another Fixer nearby to consult.

Textile Fixer
Mend seams and hems, replace zippers, patch denim, reattach buttons, and coach clients on care and simple hand‑stitches. Bring your favorite kit; we’ll provide tables, power, and bins of notions.

Jewelry Fixer
Bend and reshape components, replace clasps and jump rings, re-string beads, glue simple breaks, and make small adjustments to restore wearability.

Bike Fixer
Fix flats, adjust brakes, grease chains, and tighten seats. We’ll make the bike safe to ride and refer complex jobs to a local bike shop.

Coordinator
Keep the event humming—greet clients, manage intake and forms, direct flow between triage and workstations, post signage, and help with setup/teardown. No repair experience needed.

Student Apprentice
Repair Café’s apprentice program pairs students with experienced fixers for practical experience in electronics and mechanical repairs. To participate, you must be over 16 years old and a currently enrolled student (high school or college).

Join our Discord server for volunteers to discuss upcoming events, tools, repairs, and anything else related to Repair Café.

Transform your time into a donation!

Many employers match volunteer time with monetary donations. Does yours? Repair Café Silicon Valley is registered with Benevity. If your company uses a different platform, please let us know and we’ll happily sign up.
